The print is Loralee's: watercolour blooms in soft pinks and blues on a white base, painted with the same intuitive, emotional hand that has made her one of Tasmania's most celebrated contemporary artists. About Loralee Jade: Loralee Jade is a contemporary abstract painter and poet living and working on the North-West Coast of Tasmania, where she has transformed her childhood home into her studio. Her practice draws on memory, grief, and personal experience — works that hover between figuration and abstraction, dissolving into layers that attempt to give shape to compassion and tenderness.

“When I paint, I lose track of time. Something is happening, but I don’t always know what it is. It feels much like staring into a fire or holding onto the fragile recollection of a dream — fleeting, wordless, and deeply felt. For me, painting is less about what we see and more about what we feel.”

Celebrated for work that is sensuous, bodily, and emotional, Loralee communicates through colour and form rather than words — allowing colour to act as a bodily sensation. Her paintings explore motherhood, childhood nostalgia, and the body’s relationship with its surrounding environments.
